🍯 Honey Oat Bread (Subway-Inspired) in the Panasonic Mini
By John Nickolls | Breadmaker Boffin | Sandwich Architect
🥖 Why This Loaf?
Ever walked past a Subway and thought, “Cor, I wish my kitchen smelt like that”?
Well now it can. This is my take on Subway’s Honey Oat Bread, but made fresh in the Panasonic SD-PN100KXC Mini Breadmaker.
It’s sweet, soft, a little oaty on top—and absolutely perfect for stuffing with meatballs, bacon, or whatever chaos you’re sandwiching today.
🛠️ Ingredients:
120ml water
1 tbsp olive oil (or butter)
2 tbsp honey
½ tsp salt
90g rolled oats (+ pinch for topping)
160g strong white bread flour
60g wholemeal flour
1 tsp dried milk powder (optional)
¾ tsp fast action dried yeast
🍞 Method:
Load the pan:
Liquids first → salt in the corner → dry stuff → yeast in a flour well.
Program your Panasonic:
Menu: Basic or Whole Wheat
Crust: Light or Medium
Let it work its magic.
Optional flair:
Sprinkle oats on top after the first knead (around 30 mins in).
⏰ Bake Time:
About 3–3.5 hours. Enough to walk Monty, make some jam, or label your chutney collection.
🥪 Serving Ideas:
Toasted with bacon and honey mustard
Packed with meatballs and cheese (Subway, eat your heart out)
Slathered with butter and a smug grin
🚐 Campervan Bonus:
Warm it in the air fryer inside Vanilla. Eat outside. Brag on Instagram.
💬 Final Slice:
Subway style, John-crafted. Healthier, cheaper, fresher—and your house smells amazing.
